Imagining Passenger Experiences

Hello,

It's the start of the second term and the beginning of Book 2.

Good luck!

This term will be discussing the different stages of the passenger processing. We start today with passenger experiences. Tell us about a time you have travelled by air. Write about any problems you have had at any step of the process before/ during/ after the flight.

You can also check passenger reviews of their experiences on the Skytrax website:http://www.airlinequality.com/main/forum.htm

Regards, RV

  1. When I was fifteen years old I travelled to Dubai first I booked the flight with the Emirates, I paid online with my credit card and selected my seat. On the day of the flight I packed my luggage, took a taxi and arrived at 2 hours prior to departure. I found the check-in desk and was slightly disappointed to see the queue, but decided to be patient and wait for my turn.

  2. In the last summer, I decided travelling to London Heathrow. I booked on the first flight in the morning with Qatar Airways. I ticketed on the first class. On the day of the flight, I packed my luggage, check my passport, ticket and visa, took a taxi and arrived at the airport 3 hours prior to departure. When I entered to the airport, it was very congestion. Because the people had a holiday and free time to spend time out the country for tourism or visiting the relatives or studying and the airport would be very busy. When I finished luggage from x-ray system, the check-in area was too busy. There were many people in the queues. I searched my check-in flight and there was about 6 person came before me in the queue. I waited about 30 min in the queue to check-in until arrived my round. I gave my passport, visa, and ticket for the officer and he told me your luggage had overweight, you should pay. I said him not problem, I paid and I got boarding card to the plane. Then I went to passport control and also there was a few crowded but better than the check-in area. I fished there about 10 min. The time estimated about 2 hours. Firstly, I went to free duty shops and after that I went to the Golden Oryx Lounge and spent there about 1 hour and 20 minutes. I drink orange juice and delicious sandwiches, sweets and coffee. The place was very beautiful and comfortable. Before 25 min from departure I went to the gate directly and rode the shuttle bus. When I arrived the aircraft, got into it and set on my seat. I felt very happy and exciting. And the plane arrived to London Heathrow safely.

  4. My first flight with my pilot sister on airbus A320.

Since my sister graduated and started to work in Qatar Airways, I have always wished to fly with her to anywhere.

Finally, she got a long-haul flight to Vienna and she would stay there more than usual. So, she decided to take me and my other sister with her. She booked and paid for us the tickets and we made our visas. On the day of the flight we packed our luggage and locked it with a password for more security and safety.
My other sister took us to the airport early, 2 hours before the departure, we finished our check-in in the staff check-in desk, and we didn’t face any problems with our baggage. Also we passed the passport control and the inspection area quickly.

Then, we were in the concourse area in front of the duty free, we took a quick look if we needed something. Then directly we went to the boarding gate it was close, because it was too early, we waited around 20 minutes, and when they opened we were the first who entered the gate, by time the place got crowded, we took the shuttle bus, and boarded the plane and the Air Traffic Control Tower delayed our flight and they kept us waiting on the taxi way, because the airport was over crowded that day.

Finally, the pilots took off in a very professional way and I felt very happy and proud, because my sister was one of the pilots in the flight crew and we landed at Vienna Airport safely.

  5. Last summer h decided to travel to London with my family. When we arrived at airport we had some problems.

First of all we had congestion in the parking area we spent half an hour for a palace where we could park our car. After that we went inside the airport to the check-in area to check the weight of our baggage and to get our boarding passes, but there was problem one bag was overweight. Also when we went through the security check they mentioned for it was more than 100m and they must confiscate that, because it not allowed to take it with us inside this is a rule.

All in all they wasted our time with them and there were only 10 minutes before departure.

  6. Last summer I decided to travel to London when I faced a very confusing problem at the airport.
It was the 2nd of April, I arrived at the airport at 8:00 Am I checked-in and went to the passport control, I received my boarding pass and then I was heading to the departure concourse where I bought something to eat while I was waiting and waited beside my gate. I waited and waited to board the plane but when I finally got bored of waiting I talked to the staff who was standing in the gate and he told me that the plane had already taken off! . I was shocked and angry I said to the staff with an angry tone: wh…, when did it take off?, and why didn’t you notify me?. “I don’t know but it already took off before one hour” he said, “I want to see your manager immediately” I replied. Then when I went to the manager’s office and he checked, he said to me: “hmmm…, your flight is still delayed, perhaps the staff read the boarding pass wrong”. All of this anger is for nothing, there was a huge misunderstanding and there was no problem so I was relieved and finally I boarded the plane and I headed to my destination.

[PS: All what you read previously in this story was lying :P ]

  7. I want to write about my flight back from Malaysia and we woke up so lat at 7 AM and we have to be in the airport at 10AM. We had prepared all the baggage quickly and we put it in the car, but we surprised there was congestion in way to the airport and we were stuck in traffic for 1 hour. After that, we arrived to the airport and we were surprised when we saw a long queue in the check-in area. Then we finished after 1 hour and we were disappointed when they gave us seats not together. Also, they didn’t give my brother a seat for his doter. After that we ran to the gate and all the passenger surprised what happened!
Finally, we boarded to the plane and we changed the seats with passenger and we arrived to Qatar safely.

  8. Last year I travelled to K.S.A with Suadi airline. When I came to the airport they said the flight was delayed so I waited for it. Than when I came to the security they told me that I could not take liquids because its banned. In the concourse area I had a experience it was overcrowded and also dirty. Then when I reach K.S.A my luggage has been lost so I complain in customers services . After that they told me that they will return it or they going to give me a refund in three days . In the gate it was crowded with people who pushed each other and the gate was close for a while . In the end it was a terrible flight.

  9. Last holiday I travelled by Qatar airways to UAE. When I arrived at the Dubai airport I went to collect my luggage from the reclaim area. Unfortunately, I didn’t find my bag so; I went to customer service to complain. I was asked to describe my bag. It was small and the colour was red so, when they checked the system they realized that the bag had reached Oman. So I was to wait two days finally, they found my bag in my bag there was my ID card so, it was a terrible story in my life.

  10. One of my terrible flights was before year ago , when I travelled with my cousin to Canada and we had problems .First problem was with the visa , we had to travel to Emirates to get it , because there is not embassy of Canada in Qatar . Second in the baggage check-in , the weight was more than the allowed and we were told that we had to get something out or we had to pay . We paid immediately , because we did not want to lose time . When we arrived in Canada we went to reclaim to take our luggage , but we found one of it was broken and anther one was missing . Then we asked the security for this , he said I cannot help you , because it through many airports , I will put it in the missing list and you had to wait . It was long and terrible flight .

  11. Five years ago when I travelled to Malaysia with my family by Etihad airways the flight was as full as possible and we never faced problems. But when we wanted to come back to our country we came to the airport early, but we were shocked because it was congested and we spent roughly 1 hour and half in the check-in queue. I really got nervous. After check-in area we spent some time in the duty-free shops and we bought something special for our family in Qatar. When the time was come to go to the airplane my grandma can’t walk so they took her by special chair and special gate, but she was shocked because they said to her the airplane had already taken off. She felt afraid because she was alone and she shouted at them how? She thought we had gone. Then I listened someone said Alya, Alya……..by loud voice. I turned left and right then I saw her. I think all people who were there know my name. When she saw me she said to me: “look they were lire they said the airplane had already taken off”. Then I kept her calm and said to them our flight didn’t take off there were 10 minutes left, they apologized and we came back to Qatar.

  12. Last week was our first time we travelled with Saudi airline .Our seats were in economy class and we faced lots of problems.

First of all when we boarded the plane there was a strange smell which was like a kitchen smell, it was a terrible smell and the plane was dirty and hot. Moments after the plane took off, it started vibrating and shaking. All passengers were scared that happened during the first 30 minutes of the flight .Then the vibrating beames less and we felt comfortable. After forty five minutes the plane had a rough landing .after we disembarked the plane we went to baggage reclaim .We waited half an hour to reclaim our luggage and we were very angry.Befor we left the airport my mother said we should change return fight to come back to Qatar. We went to Qatar airways ticketing office and we booked.

That was the worst journey in my whole life and I don't advice you to travel with this air line.
